How does a_CO2-neutral flight work?

Bei der Verbrennung von fossilen Energieträgern entsteht Kohlendioxid (CO₂). Diese CO₂-Emissionen können durch Unterstützung eines Klimaschutzprojekts kompensiert bzw. neutralisiert werden. Dies geschieht, indem ein Projekt unterstützt wird, welches die verursachte Menge an CO₂ einspart. Elite Flights unterstützt ein Waldschutz- und Aufforstungsprojekt im Brasilianischen Amazonas. 2024 wird wie im Vorjahr ein Biodiversitätsschutzprojekt unterstützt.

How are CO₂-emissions calculated?

Elite Flights calculates CO₂-emissions based on hourly fuel consumption (between 38 and 170 litres of kerosene, depending on the model).

Portel-Pará REDD project that contributes to reducing deforestation in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.

Das Biodiversity Reserve Project zielt darauf ab, die Treibhausgasemissionen Indonesiens zu senken, indem es über 90.000 Hektar tropischen Torfsumpfwald unter Schutz stellt. Diese Region ist eine wahre Fundgrube der biologischen Vielfalt, einschließlich des gefährdeten Borneo-Orang-Utans. Das Projektgebiet liegt an der Südküste Borneos in der Provinz Zentralkalimantan und soll auch die Unversehrtheit des benachbarten, weltweit bekannten Tanjung Puting Nationalparks bewahren, indem eine Pufferzone entlang der etwa 90 Kilometer langen östlichen Grenze des Parks eingerichtet wird.

The Amazon is known for its amazing biodiversity and is home to more than 10% of all species. The project area covers more than 170,000 hectares of rainforest and is expected to avoid more than 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide.
